KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm, 2nd Prism Elite Event summary. Event was 27th April 2016. Contain spoilers for the Kinpri movie and it’s yet to be officially announced sequel.

I say it’s a summary but I included almost every non important things I could understand, like jokes. They’re funny so I want to share them. If you’ve got a lot of free time, watch the video while reading so it’s funnier and almost like it’s subbed. My writing style is very bad though, especially when I try to include every detail I know. I proofreaded but it’s long, so I may have left some unfinished sentences or badly written sentences from the draft.

For things I didn’t understand, I put in timestamps of when they’re said, so other people can check.

The drinks and food you could order during the event had Kinpri related names. Everyone on the staff decided the menu. There’s stuff like “Kurokawa Rei’s black coffee”.Maybe some of those are at the Kinpri animate café too.

加藤大典/Katou Daisuke. Katou san. Director of the planning department of Synsophia. He’s one of the initial makers of Pretty Rhythm, as he was part of the development of the arcade game. For PriPara too. He’s also the director of all the Pretty Rhythm and PriPara DS/3DS games. He’s one of the people who made the Prism Jumps with Director Hishida Masakazu, CG Director Otobe Yoshihiro, and Kyougoku Takahiko.

柴田 理紗/Shibata Risa. Shibata san. She was in Avex and in charge of advertising for KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm. I think she was the one managing the official Kinpri twitter account. She’s also the one who took all the panoramic photos during the ouenjoueis and posted them on the official twitter. She’s also the one who made all the movie’s PVs. She was with the staff for the ouenjouei at Okinawa too, you can see her during the scene at the beach. During the scene at the izakaya she’s outside the camera field. Wrote in past tense because as of the event she left Avex and won’t be working on Kinpri anymore. They say so near the end of the event.

Ishihara san (Nicknamed Gunnai oji san/good night oji san)  The man that was in charge of contacting cinemas etc to negotiate where Kinpri is shown. Wrote in past tense because as of the event he won’t be working on Kinpri anymore. They say so near the end of the event.

Summary:

It start with them talking about the previous live events. At the movie premiere ,all the Edel Rose’s boys seiyuus were stressed because it was all their first time doing an event like this.

Q&A 1

From “Leo kun’s big sister”: How did Leo kun meet Yuki sama?

When he first got into Edel Rose, so during last year’s story, in April 2015. (As in between the end of RL and the start of Kinpri.) That’s when they met, maybe. That’s not something they decided yet so they may change it later. Director says that person “knows Leo kun well”, so I think Leo really has a big sister, and he probably talked about it in an magazine interview or talk show during an ouenjouei. They joke saying it’s like they’re doing a radio show.

From: “a regular customer at Café Minato”: “ I’m doing a pilgrimage of the various screenings over Japan, what kind of food/restaurant do you recommend?”

They laughed because the person wrote “meguri“ meaning “tour” or “pilgrimage”. Like onsen tours etc. Director went to eat alone when at Sapporo for a ouenjouei talk show. And he liked the shellfish.

00:03:05 From “Hiro sama geki oshi” (don’t know what it means): Which recipe is Kouji the best at? And what is the first recipe he learned?

From “Tsuna san”: Why is Kouji singing “mune peko” while cooking? (Don’t know what this mune peko song is. Maybe related to Ann’s song?) Director: Kouji learned cooking with his father. It’s his father who used to sing “mune peko” when they would make hamburger together. Kouji copied his father. The first recipe he learned is probably medamayaki hamburger.

From “Saiki san”: (She was at the event.) Is the Edel Rose dorms lock up time different for middle schoolers and high schoolers? (As in the time when it’s mandatory for students to come back) Director says it’s probably at 20:00. Nishi san says that’s pretty late for a middle schooler. Director says that they probably don’t enforce it anyway, since the school is in a a mess right now. Before, they used to do enforce it though.

From “Hina, Shin kun’s mother”: “Thank you for taking care of Shin. Is he having fun at school?” Director: Yes. He’s having fun, he’s doing his best with his club activities too. If you combine all his 5 grades, he has 370 points in total. He has average marks.

(Like with “Leo’s sister”, I think they talked about it in an interview or ouenjouei talk event and that Shin’s mom is really called Hina)

From “Darla san” (she was at the event): ”btw Director what kind of food you dislike?” (Reference to how Minato asks Shin if there’s any food he likes/dislikes when they first meet)
Director: I can’t answer because it’ll be spoilers(for the bonus anime). If you buy the limited edition of the dvd/bd you’ll get the answer.
Yoda san and Nishi san don’t know what he’s talking about, saying he didn’t tell them about that before, but he just say they should move on to the next question and don’t elaborate.

00.07.15 From Yusama san: “Is Taiga going to wear a fundoshi?” (Not sure, Nishi san reads the question too fast. In any case the fundoshi thing is a reference to how Kazuki supposedly wears fundoshi as underwear so Taiga should too. That’s back from the first xmas event in 2013, back then Matsuura san said Kouji wears boxers, Kazuki wears fundoshi and Hiro doesn’t wear underwear)
Director: That question is too good so we can’t answer. When Matsuura san is here ask her again.

End of Q&A 1

First guest Katou san

Synsophia’s Kato san comes to the stage. Director introduces him as director of Pretty Rhythm and PriPara’s arcade &3DS games, and the one who thought of all the jumps. Kato san corrects him saying he didn’t think up all of them. He did stuff like hachimitsu kiss, or  “iwazu to shireta,natsu no something” (Never heard of it so I guess that’s new jump in Kinpri. I think he’s also the one who did Grateful Symphonia’s finale with the giant tree. I think he was the person director was talking about in a tweet I translated long ago which basically said they didn’t know what to do for Grateful Symphonia and that the people at Synsophia just told them “it’s like a giant tree”. )

Then they show footage of them at Okinawa. Eating at an izakaya in Okinawa after the ouenjouei there. I’ll never finish if I translate it all, plus it’s not like I understand everything anyway.

Director says something about how he would have regretted it if he didn’t use his pen name Aoba Jo for the movie’s second screening and staff greet&meet.

Kato san saying Ez Do Dance in the movie is perfect, and how it always makes him feel something in his chest. One of them asks “by chest you mean six packs” and he says he has a “one pack” since he’s not fit. Also he says the Alec vs Kazuki & Shin vs Kouji is mixed perfectly too. When they made that part he though” we won”. Director says he thought the same when they did how Kouji ties up Shin with Akaii Ito Natsu no Koi.

00.15.30 Katou san talks about ideas for Kakeru’s future Prism Show, something about a jump called Kakeru’s ミクスファンド. Mix funds? Since he’s rich and the son of a zaibatsu his jump will be money themed. Then Kato san says something about Kakeru going “cloud shinka/evolution” and going BAM or something. (Cloud as in cloud computing I think). Kato san sent that jump idea to director by email, but director never answered, which means he thought they weren’t a good idea and they got rejected. Director says it doesn’t feel mune kyun.

00.17.10 End of the izakaya video. Director says it turned into spoilers as they talked about Kakeru’s future show. Nishi san asks Kato san what’s this “Kakeru’s mix funds” thing. Director said that Kato san actually talked to him about it in detail not long ago.  Sato san says Kakeru will be like “I don’t need money” or something. Then Kakeru would get tons of stashed up bills and coins, with his face on them, get naked, and then throw all the bills. But in the end they didn’t put it in, for now.
(I used to think Kakeru will betray the others in the sequel and with this I’m 100% sure of it now. When he comes back, he’ll do a Prism Show and this jump, realizing his friends are more important than money)

00.18.00 Kato san searches his phone for mails he sent to director, and read the ones with ideas for Prism Jumps he sent to director. First one was a jump that would start in the mountain, then the character would skate all the way up to mount Fuji, and scream the jump name “yahoo yahoo mugen no attitude”. They didn’t decide which character would do it. Kato san says he never got a reply from director for that mail, so it probably means it’s rejected.  Second one is something inspired by Kayama Yuuzou and Matsukata Hiroki, which would have the character at the sea, screaming “men are the sea! Seven Grand Ocean!!” He never got a reply. Director again says because the jump doesn’t’ feel “mune kyun”.
(I just read a bit of the Wikipedia pages I linked because I’m busy, so I don’t know why Kayama Yuuzou and Matsukata Hiroki are associated with fishing. If you’ve got time to do research I would appreciate If you could find the reason, I’m always  interested when it comes to learning more about Japanese culture)

Third jump idea is “omoide hatoba memorial harbor” ? as in the place you come back to full of memories or whatever you could explain that.

4th  jump idea is “ore no dolche minato no kimagure”. Kato san thinks that one is really good and yet he never got a reply.

 00.19.30 5th jump idea is “wasshoi houchun bo ni anata bo”, don’t know what it means. Director answered him “are you a genius?” for this one. Seems it’s written like a type of Japanese poem or something. When he does jump names that are well written like that, director at least praise him even if it’s rejected.

Kato san is the one who had the idea to make Yuu call himself Zeus. Yuu always want to distinguish himself and brag and doesn’t want to be taken for a kid. His sister Ito calls herself Cross so he had to pick an even cooler name.

Next Prism Jump idea is “Doki momoiro something”. Director replied “itadakimasu” to the mail. (Meaning that idea was kept?)

Next is “Prism jump number 18, yume koi moyo oborogasu”?  For this one director replied they could make 3 jumps with it. Basically when they decide on a jump they try to see if they could make others with it. Maybe that’s how they make different jumps of same category that use the same assets, like all the spiral ones. Doremifa Solaido, Platinum Spiral, etc.

Next mail after this one say they need to think whether they can make the jumps or not budget wise.

And the mail right after that was the idea for the Kakeru no mix funds thing.

00.20.50 Lastly they talk about storyboarding the jumps. They say something about PriPara’s Hibiki’s Making Drama Sapphire Revolution but I don’t get what exactly.

In summary that’s how Kato san makes his jumps. Send the ideas by mail to director, if he answers it, it means it’s interesting, then they think if it’s viable budget wise, and then they make a storyboard for it to be animated in CG.

Kato san liked the oden at Okinawa,tells everyone to try it if they ever go there.

The way Kato san thinks up jumps changed compared to when he was working on Pretty Rhythm. For Pretty Rhythm he’d drink oolong tea, but for PriPara and Kinpri he drinks Hoppy. ( Hoppy is alcohol. That’s weird because almost all the Making Dramas/Dreaming Theater/Tribal Dancing in PriPara are ultra boring and don’t  feel like they were made on drugs at all. They don’t have that crazy awesome lame funny and cool at the same time feel like jumps in PR.)
For Kinpri he’d stay at some bar’s counter deep in thought for long periods of time. Then when he finally got an idea, he’d mail it to Hishida san, and then he’d get no answer and feel depressed like he got rejected. Thinking stuff like “Even though I tried so hard…”.

Nishi san asks Kato san which jump is his favourite in Kinpri. Director start answering saying his favourite is Kotetsu no Six Pack, and Nishi san stops him saying it’s Kato san’s turn right now. Kotetsu no Six Pack was made by Kato san. He’s happy how it turned out. Kato san likes Kouji’s Hachimitsu Kiss the most. Because the way Kouji goes “sususu” at the end of “Kiss”. Mion didn’t pronounce it like that. Apparently that wasn’t in Director’s instructions. The others say they haven’t instructed it either. They wonder why there’s a “sususu” echo like that. After the jump Kouji also goes “Uma/tasty”, and he emphasizes a lot the “ma” part. Nishi san thought it was improvised by Kakihara san, but when she checked the script Director actually wrote ”you need to accentuate the “ma” part”. Speaking of that the script will be in the limited edition of the dvd/bd. It will be a “fake full script” though; I think it means the pictures will be small. Also it’ll have all the cut lines or lines they couldn’t fit. The “Go to hell” line won’t be in though, so you should write it yourself on the script. (Since the movie’s release I heard a lot about this “go to hell” line but since I haven’t actually seen the movie I don’t know what it is exactly. I think Jin or Alexander was supposed to say it but they didn’t put it in or something like that.)  It’ll also have the cut lines of Jin.

Kato san got a lookalike watch of Kakeru’s Prism Watch. He bought it at Omotesando. Another guy in the staff whose name I can’t catch has a white one. They liked showing it off during recording sessions. They would go “WATCCHI!”. It’s lame, but because all the seiyuus are nice, they would go along and clap and be like “so funny”. Nishi san and Yoda san also show the watches their wear, they got them from fans.

Lastly they ask if anything left a big impression on Kato san. He says there’s a Rinne san sitting in the audience.

Then they did drawing lots to win goods.

First things to win were 3 kinpri posters with the staff’s names. The ones they show in the movie, they got printed in a hurry.

While waiting for the drawing lot box to be prepared they talk about someone holding a Juné figure then accidentally dropping it, noticing “it’s the one you often see on the net and the one Shishido san took a photo with” (The person with that Juné figure is Sekigucheap)

Winners were Number 67, 127 and 48. It’s worth noting Nishi san often calls director Hishida “Hishi”, the staff all get along well.

Then there’s a fan with Shin and Yuu to win. Advertisement producer Shibata san made the fan so they ask her to do the drawing. Number 51 wins. You can’t really use that kind of fan to cool yourself in daily life, only at the ouenjouei.

00.31.45. First break

You can see one girl getting up as soon as Nishi san announce the break. She must have been super hungry. Or wanted to go to toilet and kept it in all this time to not miss the show.

00.38.50 break time is over.

Director and Nishi san waves hi to “Yanagi san”, don’t know who it is.

Nishi san says that after they all jumped at the end of the Okinawa footage and stopped filming, Yoda san kept jumping or something. Then that night his legs hurt. Director says he himself jumped 4 times while Yoda san only jumped 2 times.

00.40.20 second guest, “genius mixer” Kojima san (they call him Kojikoji)

Director introduce him as the mixer that’s been working on the franchise since Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream. He’s now doing it for PriPara too. Director jokes saying that during recording he cuts the mics of seiyuus he doesn’t like. Kojima san is the one who added the  “sususu” echo at the end of Kouji saying “Hachimitsu Kiss”. Kojima san says the director didn’t ask him to do it, but sometimes he does ask him to do weird stuff like that though. The bonus CD in the limited edition of dvd/bd was mixed by Kojima san too.

Nishi san praises his mixing. Director and Yoda san notes that in the Kinpri movie, at the start of the Kazuki vs Alec & Shin vs Kouji scene, the way the music from before switch to Ez Do Dance is really well done, and that people who bought the OST are disappointed the actual song doesn’t have that transition. And also how during the movie, Ez Do Dance is miwed in a way so it comes from right and left, it sounds like it comes from all direction and really makes you feel the characters are actually singing it and you’re standing in the middle of them for real.

Kojima san’s glasses are just for fashion, his vision isn’t bad.

Director says that sometimes he sends Kojima san instructions like “I want this music on this scene”, but he often doesn’t listen and change it. In fact Director at first told him to put the original Ez Do Dance, without remixing, and just have the Alec Kazuki Shin Kouji seiyuus sing it.

Kojima san starts complaining about Director too. Saying he always want to check everything. The voices, the sfx, the bgm, etc, and how it’s impossible. Director says that back when working on Aurora Dream, Kojima san would nicely listen to his instructions but now he always tell him he changed stuff, so Director just tell him to go ahead and change it.

Director asks Kojima san what’s the deal with the “sususu” echo in Kouji hachimitsu Kiss. He didn’t instruct him to do that. Normally you’d think the echo would go “kissu kissu kissu”. Kojima san says he just thought Kouji’s “su” was really good, so he wanted to hear it more, so he put in an echo effect so it repeats.

Ez Do Dance in the movie is mixed in a way so when they talk during the fights, there’s less music so you can hear the dialogue properly.  The dialogue was already dubbed when he did the mixing so he could do that. Kojima san says all this in a way supposing it was his idea and director didn’t think about it. Director jokes again saying how annoying he is and like making smug faces.

00.48.11 they talk about “blue check” and “red check” I guess some kind of expression they use in the checking process of the mixing. Seems it’s how him and director communicate. Red check means Kojima san is ok, blue check means director is ok. Anyway not sure.

They again talk about the way Ez Do Dance starts in the movie. Director actually told him to put a specific BGM before Ez Do Dance starts, but he didn’t do it and did the super cool transition everyone likes I mentioned above. To do this he listened again to all of Rainbow Live’s BGMs and picked up ideas and parts that would fit from it. To sum up why Kojima san doesn’t always follow the Director’s instructions, it’s because Kojima san knows the Director expects more from him than what he asked. When director asks him something, he always tries to do something “one step above”. Because Director will always ask him to do more than the norm, to “raise the level” anyway. So he just does it right from the start. That’s why he always change stuff by himself. Director jokes saying that Kojima san always steals his achievements like that. Kojima san jokes saying he doesn’t want his achievements to be taken by others, and he wants to make it so everything is his credit. Director says he’s cool.

So yeah Ez Do Dance apparently starts in a really cool way, there’s Shin’s monologue, then it goes “three two one kore kara ikuzo” then it starts. Kojima san also made it so at the end of the movie, when Louis sings Pride, the movie fades out to black screen at the same time the music stops. At first it wasn’t synchronized to cut cleanly like that. Back when he was working on the movie and he showed that to director, director told him that’s amazing. Kojima san made a really smug face back then. Nishi san says that when they don’t tell him that something he did is good, he’ll go to them asking how is it in purpose, to be praised. Director and Yoda san say again how annoying Kojikoji is.

Director says he has to deal with him every week since when Pretty Rhythm started. Yoda san says Director should speak in past tense, because he doesn’t have to deal with Kojima san “every week” anymore, while Yoda san does since they both work on PriPara.

Director says that in Rainbow Live, during the Prism Show when Bell sama becomes Prism Queen(episode 48) , Kojima san is the one who timed the music so during Shinpan no Queen’s Gate, when Bell says in her speech “I want to know how the saikou saikyou no kibun feels”, the song’s lyrics says “saikou saikyou no kibun” right after.

(In the Naisho release that’s at 17:40.  I never noticed that. Bell’s monologue is even more of a masterpiece than I thought)

 For that specific part that’s actually not what director asked him to do, but Kojima san told him “I thought this would be better”.  Director say Kojima san always tries to upstage him like that. And when he told him about that change, he told him “that way is better desu yo ne?” the desu yo ne insinuating the person saying it only wants an affirmative answer. He always asks stuff like that in a nuance making it so you can’t refuse. He’d ask “you sure you don’t want me to change it?” etc.

Director says that’s how geniuses are like. Nishi san says he’s giving Kojima san too much credit, Kojima san himself says it’s just hard work. For the part where Shin goes “minna ni iitai koto ga arimaaaasu” and the music start, he also ignored director instructions for it. He starts saying that’s because just before the mixing director told him to change it but he couldn’t, Nishi san interrupts them saying they’ll start fighting. But they get along. When they have different opinions on what to do with a scene and Director asks Kojima san if he’s confident he can make the scene, director always say he trusts him.

00.54.03 Last, Nishi san tells a story about how she and Matsuura san and Kojima san and maybe some of the  seiyuus wants to karaoke till morning. And next time Kojima san and Hishida san work together they’ll fight and strip. Not sure I get it.

Nishi san says to please look forward to more “kami mixing” of Kojikoji and  you can tell she’s a Japanese businesswoman because she says please “listen” to the CDS, not please “buy”.

From “Yata san”: The white shirt Yamada san is wearing under his blue vest, is it long sleeved or short sleeved?

(Yamada san is Kanrinin’s name. I think I read before he’s Tanaka’s father but not 100% sure. And in case you forgot at the right this is Tanaka, NotYamada from RL and Kouji’s friend at school)

irector asks Matsuura san if she even thought about this, and she did. Director says it’s not like they made Yamada san cool for no reason, Yoda san and the others agree too. They’re hinting Kanrinin/Yamada san will do something important in the sequel.

(My theory is: Kanrinin is the Akaii Meganii of the RL universe and this means Meganii’s ancestor was Yamada)

Anyway, the white shirt he’s wearing is short sleeved.

00.59.20 From “roku ni hana san”: “Why is Leo kun wearing a belt on his shorts?”
Director and Yoda san start talking about how it can transform into a weapon when he fights and can be used for hypnosis or anesthesis? Or something. But they’ll keep it secret for now. They also say that Taiga’s uniform is checkered inside. ( sewn in squares like in chess)

Answer: Matsuura san says it’s just because it’s cute.

From “Darla san”: “which of the April Fools princess did you like the most?”

Matsuura san: Shin kun, because she was surprised herself how cute he is. Director says Minato. When he saw it he was like “man he really is a mama”. Matsuura san says you don’t see it in the pic but it’s impressive how he wears a corset like thing on his waist. Yoda san says Leo kun.

The one who decided who wears which coord is advertisement producer Shibata san. They say she knows the franchise really well as she picked the best choice for every character. They say it’s funny how Kouji got a really smug face. His personality really changed. Like “I won! I’m the number one!!”

From “Saeki san: Please tell us  Kanrinnin/Yamada san’s image color”. Answer: It’s pink, he’s lovely style. They just recently decided it. (One more hint showing he’ll do a Prism Show in the sequel.)

Director then asks Matsuura san what the others older characters’ colors are. He says Hijiri is white but they haven’t talked yet about what Jin and Rei’s color would be. Matsuura san says Jin is blue and Rei is red. Director says Rei is burning style so no wonder he’s red. Nishi san jokes saying it makes the French flag.

Then they start showing initial designs.

First draft of the battle suits made by the Prism Watch, the final version in the movie is different. Everyone is like what the hell is this. Director says at first it did have a visor like thing, in the end it was removed. Nishi san asks how did she even draw this. Matsuura san says when she first showed that to the Director asking if showing this much skin is ok, he just laughed. Director says it sticks to certain parts. It’s more embarrassing than being naked. Director says it covers the important parts firmly to take data to be sent to the watch.  They decided this later as a reason for this outfit existing.

Louis. Director asks her what she had in mind when drawing these. Matsuura san says nothing in particular because all of these designs were drawn before they decided on the story.

Final design, the one in the movie. Nishi sans says he’s beautiful, just like herself when she was young.
(Reference to Jin telling Louis he is beautiful and looks just like him when he was younger. That’s during the Jacuzzi scene at the end of the movie. Jin isn’t “old” btw, judging from all the info I know he’s between 26 and 28 at most. Hijiri is two years younger than Jin. My theory is: similar to how Juné based her appearance on Hijiri’s mom Maria, Louis based his appearance on Jin.)
That’s when they saw this picture that everyone decided this should be the final design for Louis. Director says about how he said 2 years ago if they made a sequel Jin would bring a Russian person with silver hair. He really made it happen.

Taiga. Just before they show Taiga’s there’s some ultra screech scream before all the other screams happen. Must have been the biggest Taiga fan. Right from the start when Matsuura san first drew the designs she said Taiga would be the most popular.

They all say about how it’s nostalgic seeing this now, it’s been months already since they first announced Kinpri and the tickets etc. They ask people to raise their hands if they bought the tickets back then. Nishi san says it must have been embarrassing.

Background. As for why it looks like some Athens temple: Back then they all talked about it, and they needed a place that fits with being naked so they put this. In the first version, there were few roses hiding the boys, then they thought they might get in trouble, so they added more roses, but then people in the staff told them the version with more roses hiding is actually more erotic.

Last is original pic of Shin and Louis for their bday.  Nishi san says “no one cares about this but I’ll say it anyway, the Louis one is my phone’s wallpaper. Director is like “yeah, we don’t care”.

Seems Nishi san really likes Louis.

(It’s on a JC Staff sheet for some reason. Matsuura san is freelance but worked on many JC Staff anime, like Famiglia etc. If I understood it correctly, back at the last live event, she said she drew these like two days before the actual bday event and video where it was released, as it was something they planned at the last minute. Taking this into account, I think she just picked the first blank animation sheet she found and drew them on it.)

00.17.50 Nishi san says Matsuura san works very hard and draws a lot. Dierctor says she drew enough for 3 movies. (This doesn’t mean there will be 3 movies though). She drew so much stuff they’re not sure everything will appear. Like the thing of “Rafore san”, someone from the staff. Nishi san says Kinpri is the first movie Matsuura san worked on, it’s an accomplishment for her etc, and that it finally became this popular. Matsuura san that she says “finally” but it’s not like they knew Kinpri would actually happen.

Speaking of that, they’re all surprised how popular the movie is. Director say sometimes they feel like if it’s really ok for them to be doing such events etc. Nishi san says that they wrote and draw a lot, which means it will appear later(in the sequel), so we should keep going and keep buying goods and write more stuff like “Kinpri is the best etc”. Director says she’s manipulative( he says yarashii). She says that’s what her job is about and thanks everyone for their support.

Director says there’s one more picture they never showed yet, it’s the first Kinpri pic they ever made. It’ll be in the booklet of the dvd and bd. Limited edition and standard edition as well.  Director says it’s actually well hidden and we all already saw a glimpse of it or something like that. And that when we’ll see it we’ll be like “oh so that’s how everything started” and “oh that’s where that scene is from”

More drawing lots for goods giveaway.

The numbers are the ticket number+ where it was bought. Winners will get 3 Over The Rainbow fans that were distributed at the 29th ouenjouei. Director signs them live. He uses the Aoba Jo signature. It’s funny because everyone act like in a shounen manga,  like “he’s using that signature!!” and everyone is like oooooh.

Winners are Yellow 8, bought at Loft/Plus One. Number 133 bought at EPLUS. Number 8 bought at 7Eleven.

Next thing to win was a poster from the Arigato Shinjuku Boltsman ouenjouei. Won by number 7 EPLUS. They ask the girl who won it if she’ll have room for it because it’s pretty big. If not she should just put it on a door or something.

Next thing to win was ten Kinpri Street Chocos. I remember that chocolate brand, if you read my old posts on RL they made some for RL too.

(Not gonna list the ten winners because no one cares anyway unless you’ve got really big stalking mental issues. I just mentioned the others to get a bit of credibility. Speaking of that I don’t mind criticism of my translations, as long as you’re not rude. I have a lot to learn and it’s far from being irreproachable. I’m saying this because some fan translators will say “I’m doing this for free you don’t have the right to complain”. I’m not like that, I think. It doesn’t actually mean I’ll always answer your complaints though.)

After eating the chocolates you can keep the packaging as a strap.

Director says with Matsuura san it got more heated up than with Kato san and Kojikoji. Nishi san says it’s the power of images. Also they just heard them saying that since they should still be backstage drinking.

Nishi san and Director says that come to think of it now they’re gathered together, the 4 who started up Kinpri. So if they’re gonna do announcements it’s gonna be now.

First one is the election results

Nishi san says the results changed a lot compared to the temporary results, so don’t give up about your favourite. Some girl screams HAAAAAIIIII. Then they joke saying maybe Director or Yoda san got in the ranking.

Yuki sama was third and second in the temporary results, but now he’s fifth. Yoda san says it may be because he has few lines in the movie. Nishi san says that’s true for every new character though.

Shin is fourth.

Kakeru is third. Yoda san is happy he pushed kakeru. He wasn’t even in the best five. Kakeru and his fans worked hard. All the staff were surprised, because he didn’t have that many points that demarks him from the rest. Director jokes saying they’ll show number 2 and 1 at the next nico live.

2nd is Alexander. He lost by a small margin, and almost caught up to the first. Nishi san says “Tsugi wa kateru yo/we’ll win next time”.

(Reference to “Kyou wa kateru yo!!/ We’re gonna win today!!”, the meme Alexander fans shout at the start of the Alec Vs Kazuki fight, because the fight ends in a draw. I haven’t seen the movie but maybe Alec himself says “I’ll win next time” at the end of the fight and  that may be how the meme started.)

They ask if there’s fangirls of Alec in the room, a lot of people raise their hands, a lot of guys too. Nishi san is like “Alec no onna ga otoko?”

Before they announce 1st, all the glowsticks already changed to green so they say you can tell already who won. It’s Taiga’s complete victory. He was first of the ranking from start to finish. Director says he’s frustrated because it turned out just like how Matsuura san predicted. Taiga is the most popular. Director wanted Leo, Yuki sama or Shin to win, yet Leo didn’t even rank in.

(He says those three in particular because iirc he’s the one who wrote the most of their personality and background)

The last month was dramatic, Taiga won against Alec by a small margin. Then they talk about people who went to see the movies tons of time to vote more. Nishi san says she saw the people on twitter who posted how many tickets they had in total. Nishi san says she’s sorry. I was like they’re showing her their summer homework.

So now that Taiga won, it means he’ll be in the Prism King Cup in the sequel.

(This confirms not every new character will participate in the Prism King Cup. They won’t change the powerlevels and make the new guys as powerful as OTR to cater to the fujoshis. Speaking of that, Kazuki draws against Alec in the movie because he wasn’t feeling well becaue of the Kouji eaving issue. If Kazuki didn’t doubt himself and didn’t get impatient during the fight and used Breaking Fire Storm and then Burning Sword Breaker he would’ve won against Alec.)

They don’t know if Taiga will say wasshoi wasshoi like in summer festivals he likes so much though.  Director says everyone in the staff is now thinking on how to make it happen. They say they can’t break their promise so he’ll definitely be in the Prism King Cup in the sequel. Matsuura Mai says she needs to think about what kind of coord he’ll wear, some girls scream he should participate in a fundoshi.

Yoda san asks if it’s exactly the number as of today, or at least around these days, Nishi san says yes. Director says they wrote such an important thing with a ball pen red ink on some small paper.

Director says it’s above 500 million. 530 milion yen to be exact.

Director says that when they broke 100 million he was already satisfied. Then the rest was for the Avex people and Yoda san to be satisfied. Director says that talk after that is like a different world for him. Nishi san says she was crying a bit before the live started but she won’t cry now. People in the audience say nakainaaiiiide/don’t cry (reference to Shin saying that to Louis I think). Nishi san says it’s ok she won’t cry, because there’s an Avex section chief in the room. It’s not her department’s boss, but still.

Nishi san says that when they broke 100 million it was already something they never hoped or imagined. Please keep supporting us etc. There’s people supporting them from the start in the room today, but also people who only learned about PR and Kinpri now, and it’s also thanks to more and more people like that joining in that they got past 500 million. It feels like she’s dreaming.  She also thanks all the staff, the staff at Tatsunoko, “Rafore san” (so I guess this Rafore san or whatever they say is someone of the staff) Director asks if they can give the “500 million yen broken past” paper to the person with ticket 132, EPLUS 132. Nishi san is like “no no no no”. They don’t give it. Director say they’ll give them a drawing on twitter or something?

It’s over soon so Nishi san asks if they’ve got final words. She asks Hishida san, but he passes it to Yoda san.

01.40.00 Yoda san says he often talk with CG director Otobe san. (since they still both work on PriPara.) He says something about seeing him like if he got stuck in the “300 million yen world” like if he’s still impressed about it or something. And that Otobe san can “time leap” with Batopons or something.

Director says that indeed even 300 million yen was already a big number. Yoda san says that when they first heard of it, half of their emotions was happiness, and half was confusion since they all never imagined it would get this popular. Nishi san says sometimes now people ask her how it feels to have worked on a hit work or something like that, can’t hear clearly.

Then Nishi san says they have one more video to show.

01.41.30 Video start. The video file is titled “mukashi kara zutto ouen arigatou gozaimasshita”(Thanks for supporting us until now).

It’s pretty cool because thanks to my research till now I know pretty much all these events and what happened in each of them. Even wrote about them in older posts too. There’s the After Party, the Pretty Rhythm & PriPara xmas event, the Jin bday thing, etc.

All four say they haven’t seen the video before. Nishi san is particularly touched and started crying. She did check the video before but seems the staff changed it without telling her.  And if you listen closely when the video starts, you actually hear her saying “gomenasai”, thinking they started the wrong video, and saying “this is different from what I saw”. When she checked the video she only saw the end with the September event announcement. It seems it’s Shibata san who planned this.

You can even tell they must have did it in a hurry so Nishi san doesn’t notice because they got one date wrong. That was the live when they announced the 300 million yen, that was March 15, not January 9. Jarnuary 9 was the movie’s premiere.

Yoda san jokingly says they showed a private shot of him (probably the kashikoma one) and won’t let that pass. The September event will happen two times the same day so more people can go. There will be one during the day and one during the night. It’s around 2 hours long. First hour will be the ouenjouei. The room has 1500 seats, so you’ll be able to do a ouenjouei with 1500 persons. After that, the OTR seiyuus will appear for the talk show. They say the dvd/bd, limited edition or not, has a ticket with a serial number on it to buy in advance tickets for the September event.

Event is ending soon so they’ll each say something now.

Nishi san says she didn’t want to tell everyone but now she feels like saying it after all. Gunnai oji san (Ishihara san) and advertising producer Shibata san.  These two are always trying their best for Kinpri. But for reasons, they won’t be able to continue their work as advertising managers of Kinpri. So Nishi san asks everyone to thanks them for all their work.

Ishihara san takes a mic to talk. He says he’s really thankful for everyone supporting them till now. He says it’s thanks to Nishi san that he could work on Kinpri, she’s the one who recommended him. His job included contacting the different cinema venues etc to negotiate where Kinpri is screened. It’s thanks to all his hard work that Kinpri went from 14 cinemas at first to more than 94. He ends by saying Hiro’s ”good night”, apparently he often do that at ouenjoueis so that’s why they call him “gunnai/good night ojisan”.

They say that at the last live event on March 15, when Director said Kinpri isn’t shown is in hometown yet(Sendai), Ishihara san immediately called cinemas venues in Sendai and managed to get a theater to screen it.  Director and Nishi san say he’s cool.

Shibata san takes a mic. Director says she always liked to take panoramic photos at the ouenjoueis or events. She’s the one who did such photos for Kinpri’s official twitter. She thanks everyone and says the fans are the ones who saved them.  She’s happy how everyone participated in making great photos during the ouenjoueis for posting them on twitter. Like that time when they made a rainbow on the seats with the glowsticks.

She made lots of of great memories. There’s been 39 ouenjouei in total as of the event (not counting the ones happen at the same time in every cinema). Shibata san says she actually already started switching to her new company, so technically she shouldn’t be allowed to participate in such events anymore, yet the staff still let her come to the event today. She asks everyone to please keep supporting Kinpri.

Nishi san says Kinpri made a lot of money so they could make all the goods etc they’re selling now. So people in advertising like Shibata san had to spend a lot of allnighters to check all the illustrations/models of the goods etc to be sure everything is fine. She worked really hard.  Director says it’s impressive how they started with very little money and yet managed to make so much and even make tons of goods. He says it means the people on advertising like Shibata san did a great job. Nishi san says she’s satisfied and doesn’t have any regrets.

Then it’s Yoda san’s turn to say something.

Yoda san starts being super humble saying the movie’s key staff was Director, Matsuura san, Otobe san, and that the “producer” stuff was all handled by Nishi san, so he didn’t do anything. Director and Nishi san interrupts him saying it is thanks to him as well Kinpri happened. Nishi san says that when Yoda san first presented the Kinpri project to Tatsunoko production bosses, it was rejected, so Yoda san told them “then I’ll just quit and make my own company”. She says he wouldn’t tell them stuff like that, and she heard it from other people on the staff. Yoda san answers that he did think that, but didn’t actually told the Tatsunoko boss directly like that. He restarts again saying he didn’t do anything, and so him being here is presumptuous. Director interrupts him again, saying that Yoda san always supported him since the time when Director first joined Tatsunoko in 2008 to work on the Yatterman 2008 remake. And that Yoda san always told him “Hishida san, the stuff you make is interesting”. Nishi san and Director say Yoda san isn’t honest. In the end, Yoda san says he doesn’t know how kinpri will expand and hope everyone will keep supporting them

01.55.40 Then it’s Matsuura san’s turn. I honestly can’t hear what she says sorry. At one point though, they talk about how there was a huge deal on twitter the 27th of April the day the OST was released, because sales of Dramatic Love and EZ DO DANCE K.O.P. surpassed Utada Hikaru’s newest single Manatsu no Toori Ame on itunes.

These are screens people took on twitter. A lot of people discovered Kinpri and Pretty Rhythm just because of that too, going “wow this thing got past Utada Hikaru, I need to check it out”. Then Mastuura san says she won’t say any more or she’ll start crying.

Last is Director Hishida san, he wrote a speech. Yoda san teases him if it’s gonna be 3 pages long like the nico live in December 2015. It’s one page, written like a letter.

It’s titled Mina san ni iitaikoto ga arimasu 2 (I have something to tell everyone 2)

He says when he did his speech during the nico live in December 2015, he actually didn’t tell anyone in the staff beforehand about it.  He basically apologizes to all people related to Kinpri etc.

Then I’m just gonna translated in first person because it’s easier.

(Just in case you didn’t watch the video and don’t hear everyone laughing: don’t take the parts like “shameful display for an anime director” seriously. He’s joking)

Director: “Back then after my speech, the staff all had bitter smiles, and there was a girl with a confused expression which is still burnt in his eyes. I still can’t forget Nishi’s san anger aura who told me “Tell me beforehand if you’re going to do something like that!!”. It was scarier than Yamato Alexander. This time I got her approval for this letter. I also remember Terashima kun and Uchida kun’s expressions who showed they didn’t know what to do. It was cute. After that, this video of me begging was uploaded on the net.  If you count all the views it amounts to something like 30 million views. (he’s joking, it’s not that much) This video is probably my masterpiece as a director. I did the script, the storyboard, and acted the main role. If I ever do something bad and get arrested, this video is probably what the news will show when announcing my detention. I’m still reflecting on it right now, if I did an irreparable thing or not. It would have been fine if the speech was 100% serious, but in the middle of it there’s gags like being fully naked, kakkou seisou (the official name for the naked tickets) etc. This ended up being a very embarrassing error. I wish I could go back in time and ask myself why I put jokes like this. I want to tell myself “Idiot idiot, you’re an idiot’. Speaking of asking things to the me back then, I wonder why I even made that speech. Was it because of Nishi san, Shibata san? Did that endeavour capture the fans’s hearts? Even though I’m an anime director I did such actions, I showed my embarrassing side to the whole world. At some point during my speech, Shibata san from outside the camera field showed me a message on a sketchbook, saying “you don’t need to say any more”. Was it because I attained the goal, or did she just give up, I’m still not sure. Every night I get flashbacks of that sketchbook. Nishi san, Shibata san, thank you. Thank you everyone for going to the cinemas to watch Kinpri. This movie became a bigger hit that anyone initially working on it ever predicted. Thanks to everyone’s power, a miracle happened. We have clearly, visible, results. Thanks to everyone the dream didn’t stay a dream but changed into an attainable goal.  We’ve received the hero’s sword from you, we will use it to cut a path to the future. When this happens, let’s all have fun together. . I promise we will return again.” End

Director says that was around 1/4th the length of December’s beg letter. Nishi san says that’s just because he had less paper. Also he wrote really small. She thanks him for not doing a bomb speech again and holding back this time.

Nishi san says it’s gonna end now, it’s been over 2 h, and people need to be careful not to be late to catch the train back home. Director says they will let everyone sleep tonight. (References to Hiro’s lines during Starlight Express)

Director says that they haven’t really advertised the bonus anime in the limited edition so they’re gonna do it now. They worked on it with the intention of making something 2-3 minutes long, like an episode of the Aurora Dream DVD specials, but before they knew it, it ended up being 20m long, like a TV anime episode. Yoda san says not to get your hopes up because they say “anime” though. Seems it won’t have a lot of animation and be more something like an audio/picture drama. When director heard the price of the limited edition, he thought it was a bit pricey, so he tried his best to write something that makes it worth the price. Nishi san say it’s really good and will make you feel happiness after watching it. Then Director jokes saying it’s one third of the movie since the movie is one hour long. Nishi san says the limited edition also has all the small recordings/audios/stills etc they showed before the movie, footage of the special ouenjouei like Shin and Louis bday’s etc. All the vote for me videos of the characters too. It’ll have all the commercials and PVs too. Shibata san is the one who made the PVs. It’ll also have storyboard excerpts, including scenes from the Prism Shows, and it’s funny because there are tons of small instructions written on them. They left them on purpose so we can see it too. Nishi san says she hopes we will all still be alive by June 17 to enjoy it.

Nishi san says that the other day during the dubbing for the bonus anime in the limited edition, Hishida san was laughing alone for some reason. Director says it’s because Nagasaki san’s (sound director) instructions to the seiyuus were funny. They can’t tell the details, but Nagasaki san was like “you need to act more like you’re grabbing it!!” doing a grabbing gesture with his hand. Grab what? We’ll know if we watch the short anime. Also, there’s a lot of official goods with the characters drawn in SD, but the limited edition will have a picture with the characters in SD drawn by Matsuura san herself. They’re super cute.  And something about Leo kun saying monyuu monyuu monyuu.

With that the event is over and they start leaving. People start screaming GLORIA SCHWARZ. Then some staff girl of the venue tells everyone “the event is over and lately we’ve got a lot of forgotten items so please everyone make sure you don’t forget anything when leaving. Thank you for being with us today.”
