Rose Guns Days s2 and things about Maoyuu

rose guns days this level of cleaning is possible for I, Zel

Channeling Erika.

I finished chapter 2 of 1948 a few days before my exams then I haven’t played till now. It’s actually pretty close to the ending since it only took like 3 hours to read the rest till the end. There’s even more streets from Paris compared to the first one. It’s really funny. I could swear the chinese arms dealer building looks like Epitanime’s basement too.

Anyway, references no one reading this blog will get aside, that was a nice ride. It’s incredible how better this was compared to the season 1. S1 was really just to get the engine started. From the Caleb war to the switch to Zel. Everything’s so excellent. There’s even little details now like some battle illustrations being tailor made and exactly corresponding to the situation. The end is especially satisfying too. I didn’t think it would happen in the same game. You know what I mean if you’ve read it.

Anyway, some weeks ago, I restarted reading the “official” maoyuu manga adaptation. I stopped reading it for months after the chapter with the korultai announcement. I was getting kinda bored by it. I really like Maoyuu but there’s something that always bugged me about the story, I’m not sure how to explain it.

One reason is how the story is following the archetype of a fantasy world that slowly becomes more like the real world.  It makes some of the developments really predictable, like the invention of the compass, gunpowder etc.

But the biggest reason is I feel that whenever they talk about solving the world’s problem, they always skip the most important things. The first time I had this feeling was pretty early in the story, with the whole potato thing. It felt like the story took the readers for kindergarteners. They explained the most basic stuff you already know or knew would happen, and then there’s a small time skip showing the system is working. And then it’s never mentioned again. BAsically it goes:
>We should market potatoes to fight hunger etc!
>Ok but there will be this problem or that problem to solve
>Timeskip
>All the problems are solved and potato market is fine

I guess in simple terms what I mean is that they always show us the easy side of solving problems, and while the characters do solve the hard part too, they never show us in detail how they do it. The author write things in a way that’s always convenient for him.

Maybe it’s actually a widely recognized flaw of the story, and I’m actually parroting obvious things. I haven’t really ever checked discussion on Maoyuu.

In opposition, I don’t get that feeling when reading Rose Guns Days.
In the second half of season 2, the beginning of the 1948 arc, there’s a problem between Chinese laborers and Japanese laborers. The underworld bosses of each faction have a long chat about it, speaking of the problems and issuing solutions. Then they show you every step of how they try to solve the problems. It feels really real. I don’t get the feeling that they purposely avoid explaining the most complicated things.

To wrap things up, maybe it’s simply because I’m reading a manga adaptation of Maoyuu while I’m reading the original VN of Rose Guns Days. Maybe the original Maoyuu novel don’t have this problem.

lol princess sarah reference in rose guns days

Also, that totally was a Princess Sarah reference.
I’m not planning to play Season 3 anytime soon.

Rose Guns Days s1

rose guns days meryl tsuntsun

Well that sure was intense. It’s nice to be able to enjoy a 7th Expansion story without being on the edge of my seat all the time and expecting to get scared to hell. Well you’re still on the edge of your seat a lot of time too. There’s also the mini game that really packs a punch and adds a whole lot to the ambiance. Don’t ever skip it.
Stella is my favorite but I felt like posting Meryl though.
Also pretty funny to see streets from Paris in it. Ryukichi07 did say he’ll get some inspiration from his visit. I gotta say I’m surprised how much stuff he said in these conferences turns out true when you play this. I mean, you can feel he’s someone who does what he says.

[Report] Ryukishi07 at the French con Epitanime: 26th of May

Got a signature from him. Hell Yes. I’m so happy. (Even though I’ll probably fail my exams starting June 5th).

He was there the 26th and the 27th. Each day he did a signing session at 11:15am and a conference at 2pm. The guy who translated Higurashi in French and the founder of Witch Hunt were also present at the conferences. (Didn’t know one of the guys who started up Witch Hunt was actually French). I’ll type here pretty much everything I remember from those conferences. This first post will be about the first conference which was focused on Higurashi (The second one was focused on Umineko). I’ll post a summary of the 2nd conference tomorrow at best. The conferences were also streamed, the 1st one on Niconico and the 2nd one on Ustream so I’ll post the links too. I can’t find the link of the 1st one for now though, so I think I’ll put both in the 2nd post. Of course, if someone who was also present is reading this, feel free to point out mistakes.

Ryukishi07 at a french con Epitanime

Epitanime is a con organized by some students of the programming school Epitech in Paris. Takes place during 25th-27th May. It’s been 4 or 5 years since my last time there since my exams are right after it most of the time. Like one week after. I think I’m gonna go this year anyway.
Ryukishi07 gonna answer questions and stuffs at conferences and there will be signing sessions too.
He’ll mostly talk about the doujin scene I guess. My body will never be ready.

Umineko 2d fighting game

This looks awesome.

After watching the video again and pausing, I noticed the background text consist of french sentences,  one of the most visible one says: “Au quatrième soir,  gâtez un cerveau” . Actually  it’s the witch epitaph in french. They put it in google translate because it’s hilariously badly translated.
